200 Club Games – James “Junk” Jeffries

200 club games – James “Junk” Jeffries

From one club stalwart last week in Walt, this week we honour another of our club favourites – James “Junk” Michael William McGann Jeffries.

Coming to the club in 2011, James was as skinny as a rake but had the heart of a lion. He quickly adopted the nickname “the Junkyard dog” due to his tenacity at the contest, despite not being the biggest bloke getting round. Yet.

It might surprise you to also know that James started at the club as a ruckman, and is the last premiership ruckman we have had from men’s football after taking out the 2012 colt’s premiership as he likes to remind us so often.

From there, Junk started his illustrious Ressies career in a bid to become the true “ultimate Ressie”. His dedication saw him going to Kerry’s lunchbar for chicken sausages and Dare Iced Coffees even on days he didn’t feel like it, that’s how dedicated he was to becoming the best. His hard work earnt him two Reserves Best and Fairests and a close Runner up over the journey as well as three years as the captain.

But Junk’s accolades aren’t just limited to on the field. No one can remember how many years he did it, but Junk was a major sponsor of the club – always pouring money in when we needed it and still continues to do it to this day. The only think Junk likes more than his team of Ultimates is the women’s footy team that he has been assistant coach of for a number of seasons. But that’s not all, Junk was awarded the “Football Volunteer of the Year” award in 2024 and this season has jumped into a committee role.

Pretty impressive resume for the kid from Nambeelup.

16 League games, 144 reserves games and 40 colts games with a total of 36 goals.

Good luck on the weekend Junk, the club is very lucky to have volunteers like you. Thanks legend!
